BJP president J.P. Nadda on Sunday requested if West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee needs to win the Lok Sabha elections by scaring and threatening individuals as he hit out at her authorities over the seizure of arms and ammunition by the CBI in Sandeshkhali.

In a press release, he expressed confidence that the BJP will win over 35 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats within the State and conveyed his social gathering’s solidarity with the Sandeshkhali women who had been allegedly sexually assaulted by former Trinamool Congress strongman Shahjahan Sheikh and his associates.

Sheikh, now suspended from the TMC, is in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody and can be accused of land seize by locals.

The CBI on Friday seized arms and ammunition, together with a police service revolver and foreign-made firearms, throughout searches at two premises of an affiliate of Sheikh.

The searches had been performed in reference to the January assault on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) group by a mob that was allegedly instigated by Sheikh.

Hitting out on the State authorities, Mr. Nadda mentioned, “Will Mamata Banerjee win the polls by scaring and threatening people? It is a grave mistake if she thinks she can win elections by this.” People will train her a lesson, he mentioned.

By fielding a Sandeshkhali sufferer as one among its Lok Sabha candidates, the BJP has affirmed its assist to girls empowerment, Mr. Nadda claimed.

He mentioned Sandeshkhali victims aren’t alone and the whole nation stands with them.

Ms. Banerjee on Saturday mentioned there was “no evidence” of recovery of arms and ammunition in Sandeshkhali and claimed that CBI groups performed searches with out maintaining the State police within the loop.

Expressing scepticism concerning the operations, Ms. Banerjee mentioned the recovered gadgets “might have been brought by officials of the Central agency”.

The BJP had gained 18 Lok Sabha seats in West Bengal within the 2019 polls and has been pulling out all of the stops to enhance its tally there.
