The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has revealed this year’s class of inductees for 2026. Eight iconic artists have made the cut:
- Phil Collins
- Billy Idol
- Iron Maiden
- Joy Division/New Order
- Oasis
- Sade
- Luther Vandross
- Wu-Tang Clan
This year saw a record 17 nominees, leading to some tough exclusions. Notable names that didn’t make the final list include Mariah Carey and Pink. While the Hall prefers not to label these as “snubs,” fans often feel strongly about their favorites not making it in.
In an interesting twist, there will be 18 inductees this year. Beyond the eight performers, ten others will be recognized in different categories, chosen by Hall committee members. The categories include Early Influences, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
Early Influence Award
The honorees are:
- Celia Cruz
- Fela Kuti
- Queen Latifah
- MC Lyte
- Gram Parsons
Musical Excellence Award
The recipients are:
- Linda Creed
- Arif Mardin
- Jimmy Miller
- Rick Rubin
The announcement came during a special episode of “American Idol,” hosted by Lionel Richie and Ryan Seacrest.
The induction ceremony is set for November 14 in Los Angeles and will air later on ABC and Disney+. Unlike previous years, a live broadcast for 2026 has been scrapped.
Phil Collins enters the Hall again, this time as a solo artist. He was previously inducted as a member of Genesis. Notably, Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan are also making their debuts in the Hall.
Oasis, Iron Maiden, and Joy Division/New Order were inducted on their third nomination attempt. This recognition has been a long time coming, especially for those like Gram Parsons, who had previously been nominated without success.
Interestingly, the fan vote this year was won by New Edition, but that didn’t guarantee their spot among the eight inductees.
As for the ceremony, one big question is how Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher will react to the honor. In the past, he expressed disdain for the Hall, calling it a “BUMBACLARTS” club on social media. However, with his brother Noel now reconciled, it remains to be seen how he’ll handle this year’s induction.
New Order’s performance at the ceremony is also up in the air. Former member Peter Hook has a history of tension with the group, which makes their musical reunion uncertain.
Collins may not perform due to health issues, as he retired last year. However, artists like Billy Idol and Iron Maiden remain active and may take the stage.
Excitement surrounds this year’s induction, and it seems fans are eager to see who will attend and perform at the event. By 2027, the induction ceremonies will return to Cleveland, home of the Hall of Fame museum.
