100 Years of Flavor: Celebrating a Century of Riesbeck’s Food Markets – WHIZ – Fox 5 / Marquee Broadcasting

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local grocery chain is marking a special occasion. This year, Riesbeck’s Food Markets proudly celebrates 100 years of serving Southeast Ohio.

Stephen Riesbeck, the Corporate Programs Manager, shared his thoughts on reaching this significant milestone. “It’s not just any store that makes it to 100 years. For us, as a family-run grocery business, it feels even more special,” he said. The Riesbeck family is now in its fourth generation, with members involved in daily operations and on the board of directors.

The story of Riesbeck’s began with Stephen’s grandmother, Margaret Riesbeck. After the sudden death of her husband, she returned to Woodsfield with her five children. On March 14, 1925, she opened the very first store. Her vision laid the foundation for what would become a beloved community staple.

Co-President Brian Riesbeck also reflected on the company’s longevity. “It’s incredible that our family business has thrived for a century, competing against larger retailers,” he noted. “This achievement is a tribute to the hard work of every employee over the years, and we owe our success to them.”

To honor their grandmother’s legacy and celebrate this milestone, Riesbeck’s is hosting various events and offering special deals at all locations. It’s a great way to thank the community for their support over the last century.
