2025 Breakthrough: Remedy Revenues Soar to €59.5 Million – Discover What’s Driving This Growth!

Remedy has shared its latest financial results, revealing impressive growth in Q4. This surge was largely due to increased royalties and game sales from popular titles like Alan Wake 2 and Control.

For the entire fiscal year, revenue rose by 17%. However, the company faced a €14.9 million operating loss primarily because of its multiplayer game, FBC: Firebreak, not performing as expected.

In Q4, nearly half of Remedy’s revenue came from this rise in game sales and royalties. The success of Alan Wake 2 and the enduring popularity of Control played significant roles in this boost. Control has sold an additional million copies this past year, particularly after the announcement of its sequel, Control: Resonant, during The Game Awards in December 2025.

Markus Mäki, the interim CEO, expressed optimism about early reactions to Resonant, noting positive feedback from players which has translated into high wishlist numbers on gaming platforms.

Alan Wake 2 also contributed to financial growth, with a feature on PlayStation Plus generating additional royalties in Q4. The franchise continues to perform well, maintaining steady royalty income alongside physical and digital sales.

In terms of leadership changes, Tera Virtala stepped down as CEO last October after nearly a decade. Mäki has been leading as interim CEO, and the company recently appointed Jean-Charles Gaudechon, a former VP at Electronic Arts, as the new CEO, starting on March 1, 2026.

Mäki reflected on the recent quarter, stating, “After a few challenging quarters, Q4 was strong and profitable. Our single-player games performed well, and the announcement of Control: Resonant received an excellent response.”

For the full year, Remedy attributed its revenue growth to development fees from the remakes of Max Payne 1 & 2 and from Control: Resonant. These fees, along with royalties from Alan Wake 2 and revenue from FBC: Firebreak, significantly contributed to its income.

Despite a promising start, FBC: Firebreak, launched in June 2025, did not meet expectations. The developers later acknowledged their disappointment, issuing a profit warning due to weak sales and recognizing a significant non-cash impairment of €14.9 million on the game’s launch costs.

Remedy subsequently adjusted its financial outlook for 2025, shifting from anticipated profit to a loss influenced by these challenges.

This contrast between strong single-player performance and struggles in multiplayer highlights trends in the gaming industry. According to recent reports, single-player games are resurging as players crave deep, engaging narratives, while multiplayer titles face stiffer competition and higher player expectations.

As Remedy navigates these ups and downs, it will be interesting to see how both its new leadership and upcoming titles impact its future.
