2025 Miami Dolphins Training Camp Insights: Key Takeaways and Highlights You Can’t Miss!

After a slow start to practice on Wednesday, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa said the team needed a “jumpstart.” Luckily, the Dolphins responded quickly.

Before Thursday’s practice, Head Coach Mike McDaniel emphasized the importance of their joint sessions. He stressed that focusing on the process is more valuable than being obsessed with results. “These August practices are crucial for us,” he said. “We’ll see if we learned from Wednesday.”

The Dolphins’ energy on Thursday was clear. They dominated both offensively and defensively during a seven-on-seven drill against the Lions. Tagovailoa connected with wide receiver Jaylen Waddle for two touchdowns and also hit Erik Ezukanma, Malik Washington, and Dee Eskridge for scores.

One highlight was Eskridge’s final touchdown, where he snagged a contested pass in the back of the end zone after a 30-yard gain. His teammates rushed to celebrate, showcasing the team’s chemistry.

Center Aaron Brewer noted, “We came out and competed. It was great to see the guys celebrating and having fun. The energy was contagious.”

The defense also held its ground. Although Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw a long touchdown pass to Jameson Williams, Miami made it tough for him otherwise. Rookies Kenneth Grant and Jordan Phillips stood out, creating disruptions and supporting the linebackers.

Head Coach McDaniel praised Phillips: “Whenever he makes a play, everyone erupts.” He added that Phillips brings relentless energy and toughness to the field, which his teammates appreciate.

Linebackers Jordyn Brooks, Tyrel Dodson, and K.J. Britt complemented the defensive effort by making decisive tackles. Brooks, in particular, has excelled in camp. Grant described him as a “savvy vet” who brings energy every play.

Next up, the Dolphins will face the Lions again in their second-to-last preseason game, scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ford Field.

Recent surveys indicate that fans are excited about the Dolphins’ potential this season. Many are optimistic, believing that the strong performances in training camp could translate to success on the field. The camaraderie built during these practices might just be the foundation for a successful season ahead.
