SOUTH BEND, IND. (June 23, 2025) – Exciting news! The First Tee National Championship kicks off June 23-26 at the University of Notre Dame’s Warren Golf Course. This event brings together 48 talented young golfers—24 boys and 24 girls, aged 14-18. They were chosen for their skill and competitive experience, offering them a chance to shine on a big stage.
Among these players, 14 have committed to play college golf. Past winners, like Megan Meng from First Tee – Greater Trenton, are already with collegiate teams, showcasing how the program nurtures talent.
Before the tournament begins, participants will enjoy a chat with Notre Dame’s athletic director Pete Bevacqua. He has a rich background in golf through various leadership roles, including with the USGA and PGA of America. There will also be a coaches panel—an excellent opportunity for these young athletes to learn what it takes to advance in their golf careers.
Greg McLaughlin, First Tee CEO, expressed enthusiasm for returning to the Warren Course. He emphasizes that the tournament not only highlights golfing talent but also the character and leadership these young athletes display off the course. It’s a real testament to what First Tee represents.
Winners will take home the Tattersall Cup, and additionally, one boy and one girl will earn spots in the PGA TOUR’s Pathways to Progression program. This initiative aims to enhance diversity in golf by developing talent from often underrepresented communities.
The championship also has exciting opportunities for its participants. Up to two may receive exemptions for the PURE Insurance Championship, a unique event where junior players get paired with professionals to learn and compete.
Every year, this championship is hosted at various college campuses, giving participants the chance to experience college life and connect with peers across the country. Next year, the event will be held at the University of North Carolina’s Finley Golf Course.
This tournament is just one part of First Tee’s offerings. The organization supports youth through leadership programs, a girls empowerment event, and community service workshops, ensuring they stay engaged in meaningful ways.
