2025 NFL Draft: Which Teams, Including Browns, Giants, and Saints, Are Hot on the Trail for First-Round Quarterbacks?

First-round pick: No. 6 overall

The Raiders are in an exciting spot this offseason. With nearly $100 million in cap space, they have the chance to transform their roster. Only the Patriots have more funds to work with. New GM John Spytek has options. Fans can expect some bold moves in free agency to strengthen the team.

Las Vegas holds onto all its original draft picks, including that coveted No. 6 overall selection. They also snagged a third-round pick from the Jets when they traded for Davante Adams. Plus, the team is likely to gain two compensatory picks, giving them even more options.

While there are needs across the roster, the biggest priority is at quarterback. The Raiders currently have three quarterbacks, including restricted free agent Desmond Ridder, but it’s unclear if the new staff is sold on any of them. This offseason might see them targeting a quarterback through the draft.

With the No. 6 pick, the Raiders can be strategic. They might consider moving up if a top quarterback becomes available. Alternatively, they could choose a different position early in the draft and still grab a quarterback later if someone like Shedeur Sanders or Jaxson Dart slips down the board.

There’s been chatter about new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and his connection to Will Howard, his quarterback from Ohio State. However, Howard might not be a first-round option just yet. The Raiders could look for a quarterback in later rounds. Remember when Pete Carroll put his trust in Russell Wilson, a third-round rookie? That strategy paid off big. But it’s worth noting that Carroll was already into his third year of rebuilding when Wilson joined the Seahawks. Unless the Raiders land a veteran quarterback this offseason, using a first-round pick on a quarterback seems like a real possibility.
