There’s exciting buzz around the 2026 Gloucestershire Lifestyle & Community Awards, with more entries than ever before. This shows just how much the community cares about celebrating local talent and spirit.
This year, the awards have been refreshed. They merge the long-standing Lifestyle Awards with a new focus on community action and volunteering. Many more individuals and groups have entered, spanning a wide range of categories. From popular restaurants and cultural venues to new honors like Volunteer of the Year and Community Award, the variety highlights the strong communal identity in Gloucestershire.
Entries opened in January and closed in mid-February. Organizations could submit entries for up to three categories on the SoGlos website. The increase in submissions indicates the community’s enthusiasm for recognizing both charitable efforts and local businesses that enhance the Gloucestershire lifestyle.
Public votes will help create a shortlist, with finalists announced next month. An independent panel, featuring prominent local figures, will judge the entries. The winners will be celebrated on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Pittville Pump Room in Cheltenham.
James Fyrne, managing director of SoGlos, noted that the record interest reflects locals’ appreciation for recognizing both commercial and community achievements. He believes these awards truly capture the unique diversity that makes Gloucestershire an inspiring place to live and work.
Of particular interest is how awards like these can foster a sense of community. According to a recent survey by the Community Foundation, 67% of residents believe that community awards boost local pride and involvement. These numbers suggest a strong connection between recognition and community engagement.
As the awards night approaches, people are already sharing their excitement on social media, highlighting their favorite nominees. This lively conversation shows just how much these awards mean to the people of Gloucestershire and how they bring the community together.
