The 2026 NFL Combine is over, kicking off the excitement of draft season. As we gear up for Pro Day, NFL.com’s Charles Davis has shared his latest mock draft, just seven weeks ahead of the big event.
In an interesting twist, Davis predicts only one quarterback will enter the first round—expected to go to the Las Vegas Raiders. Surprisingly, he also thinks the Arizona Cardinals will choose a running back with their third pick.
The draft is set for April 23-25, and anticipation is building. Here’s a look at the key projections:
Fernando Mendoza stands out as the top pick. He led his team to an undefeated season and captured the Heisman Trophy. Last season, he threw for 3,535 yards, with an impressive 41 touchdowns and only six interceptions. His 90.3 QBR was the best in the nation, making him a serious contender under the spotlight in Las Vegas.
Another player to watch is David Bailey, who recorded eye-popping stats at the combine. With a 4.5 40-yard dash and a 98 production score, he showed why he’s a top EDGE rusher. He also led the nation with 14.5 sacks last season, proving he can disrupt quarterbacks consistently.
Interestingly, it’s been a while since a running back was drafted in the top five—Saquon Barkley was the last in 2018. If projectors are correct, Jeremiyah Love could change that, showing off explosive skills with 1,372 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns last season.
Defensively, Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles from Ohio State are both projected to go in the top 10. Reese had 112 tackles over two seasons, and Styles impressed scouts with a stunning 43.5-inch vertical jump. Both contributed significantly to Ohio State’s success, making them likely first-round choices.
Among offensive players, Carnell Tate is a key name. In his last season, he secured 52 catches for 875 yards and nine touchdowns. With several teams needing a reliable wide receiver, he could be the first one drafted.
Turning to the defensive side, Mansoor Delane, after an impressive stint at LSU, is considered a top cornerback prospect. An AFC scout mentioned he could quickly become one of the best in a deep class of defensive backs.
Finally, Francis Mauigoa, an offensive tackle from Miami, is favored to be the first lineman chosen. He played a crucial role in his team’s successful run to the national championship, exemplifying both skill and reliability on the field.
