$70 Million ‘GREEN Project’ Agreement Signed for Climate-Resilient Development
DHAKA, June 3, 2026 (BSS) – The Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has entered into a subsidiary loan and grant agreement with the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance to implement the ‘Growth for Climate Resilient and Environmental Entrepreneurship and Nutrition (GREEN)’ project.
The project aims to foster integrated development in the climate-resilient agriculture, environment-friendly enterprises, and nutrition sectors.
PKSF Deputy Managing Director Dr. Akond Mohammad Rafiqul Islam and Finance Division’s Joint Secretary Mst Nazneen finalized the agreement at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will provide $70 million to fund the project through the Bangladesh government.
This nationwide initiative will run from 2026 to 2031, with a focus on regions based on poverty trends, climate risks, and agricultural potential.
Approximately 260,000 individuals will benefit from the project, including poor and marginal farmers, women and youth entrepreneurs, small agricultural entrepreneurs, families in climate-vulnerable areas, and ethnic minority communities.
The project will emphasize the development of climate-resilient food systems, expand inclusive financial services, and enhance institutional capacity.
Additionally, it will aim to contribute to the creative economy, produce safe food, increase the income of rural entrepreneurs, and establish sustainable production systems.
