Nine people were injured by gunfire early Sunday during a birthday party at a rental home in Bath Township, Ohio. The party, heavily promoted on social media, attracted a large crowd, many of whom were teenagers. It was chaotic as guests tried to flee while first responders worked to assist the injured.

The shooting occurred around 12:15 AM, about 15 miles from Akron. Police Chief Vito Sinopoli stated that the full extent of the injuries was unclear. One victim might have sustained their wounds from a fall rather than gunfire.

Echoing past events, Bath Township has seen issues with Airbnb rentals before. In 2017, another shooting at a rental home resulted in injuries. The police chief mentioned ongoing discussions with property owners about adherence to local regulations.
