Grand Canyon University Athletics Secures WAC Title with Stellar Pitching and Gonzalez's Home Run

Riverside, California — Grand Canyon University (GCU) softball team has made history by winning their fourth consecutive WAC Tournament championship. On a scorching Saturday, they clinched a thrilling 4-3 victory over Tarleton State after a gripping 3.5-hour game.

Sophomore pitcher Maggie Place took the mound for GCU and delivered an outstanding performance, shutting out Tarleton State for eight innings. Her efforts paved the way for junior Emily Gonzalez, who secured the win with a dramatic home run in the 11th inning.

GCU’s overall record now sits at an impressive 46 wins and 6 losses, making them the team with the best winning percentage in the nation. They also hold the longest active winning streak at 23 games.
