Memorial Health has launched the Horizons Program to help students aiming for careers in healthcare. This initiative offers students financial support, practical clinical experience, and a potential job after graduation.
With a pressing demand for skilled healthcare workers, the Horizons Program targets students early. Those who participate will receive a stipend of $1,000 every two weeks during their final year, up to $5,250 per year for tuition, and over 200 hours of hands-on patient care training.
Once they graduate and obtain their licenses, participants can transition into full-time jobs at Memorial Health. However, there’s a catch: they must commit to working there for three years. The program welcomes both new candidates and current employees at Memorial who are first-year students in accredited programs expecting to graduate in spring 2026.
Ideal candidates should be pursuing degrees for roles like CT technologist, MRI technologist, surgical technologist, ultrasound technologist, and respiratory therapist.
Recent statistics support the need for more healthcare professionals. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs for healthcare practitioners are projected to grow significantly in the next decade, highlighting the critical importance of programs like Horizons.
Students interested in applying can look into pathways offered by partner institutions such as Lincoln Land and Richland Community Colleges if they aren’t already enrolled in a qualifying program.
