Lawson-Fenning, a well-loved furniture brand in Los Angeles, has sold most of its company to Stand Out For Good. This parent company also oversees popular fashion retailers like Altar’d State. With this new partnership, Tana Ward from Stand Out For Good will take the lead as Lawson-Fenning’s president, but founders Glenn Lawson and Grant Fenning will still be involved in key roles.

The goal? Lawson-Fenning will remain independent, keeping its home in LA while expanding carefully with help from Stand Out For Good. Lawson mentioned this partnership would help them grow while staying true to their core values.

Interestingly, these two companies come from different worlds. Lawson-Fenning, founded in the late 1990s, quickly gained attention from designers. High-profile names like Michael S. Smith supported the brand early on, and they’ve collaborated with designers like Brian Paquette. Their furniture is stylish but comes at a premium, with sofas generally priced between $5,000 and $10,000.

On the other hand, Stand Out For Good, based in Tennessee, grew from Altar’d State, which offers trendy clothing for women in their 20s. This brand, established in 2009, has exploded in size, with over 100 stores across 30 states. Altar’d State focuses on values such as treating others well and charitable giving, donating 10% of profits on Mondays to various charities. They also encourage their employees to volunteer, providing time off for these activities.

In 2022, Stand Out For Good made strides into the home furniture market, launching Altar’d State at Home, where sofas start at about $1,700. To strengthen this venture, they brought in experienced team members from other successful brands.

Experts believe this merger could shake up both the furniture and retail industries. “When distinct brands like these come together, it opens doors for innovation,” says a retail analyst. This partnership might attract a broader audience, blending stylish furniture with a focused approach on community and values.

Ward stated her excitement about working with Lawson and Fenning, aiming to share their legacy with more people. This collaboration could reshape how both companies approach their markets and expand their influence.
