What makes this turntable stand out? Its base is crafted from a thick slab of high-density transparent acrylic, while the platter is also acrylic, making both visually striking and functional. Many turntables use direct drive systems, where the platter spins with help from an electric motor. This is great for performance, but the AT-LPA2 uses a belt drive. Surprisingly, this choice adds to its aesthetic appeal. Audio-Technica has included an optical sensor that keeps the platter spinning steadily at either 33 1/3 or 45 RPM to ensure precise playback.

The tonearm of the AT-LPA2 is lighter, made from carbon fiber. It features interchangeable counterweights, allowing users to balance different cartridges easily.

To maintain its sleek design, the playback controls and power supply are housed in a separate unit. This keeps unnecessary components hidden and helps minimize noise from the power supply. According to the company, this separation results in clearer and more accurate audio.

In recent trends, vinyl records are making a comeback. Statista reported that vinyl sales reached $1 billion in 2022, a significant milestone, showcasing growing consumer interest in analog sound.
