(ECNS) — The 22nd China (Luohe) Food Expo, held from May 16-18 in Henan Province, brought the world of food right to Luohe City, known as the “Food Capital of China.” The event featured a vibrant international exhibition area packed with enticing specialty foods.
Exhibitors from countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, France, Italy, and South Africa showcased over 1,000 unique products. Many expressed their confidence in the growing Chinese economy, highlighting the increasing synergy between local and international markets.
As the guest of honor, Malaysia wowed visitors with its diverse offerings, including coconut jelly and white coffee. Ma Ziming, a Malaysian exhibitor, shared, “Taste is a magical thing that brings Malaysia and China closer.” He noted that over 500 specialty products were presented, and many Malaysian brands are already featured in major Chinese supermarket chains. With the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership in play, he anticipates even greater collaboration in the food sector.
French wines were a major draw, attracting attention at their pavilion. Kong Qiuli from Haikou City noted a growing local market for wine, emphasizing the strong potential for French products in China.
Thai food also captivated attendees. The delicious aroma of Tom Yum soup filled the air as exhibitor Nana cooked on site. On the expo’s opening day alone, she secured numerous significant orders, indicating a strong preference for Thai durian products among Chinese consumers. Interestingly, her team is now exploring livestream e-commerce to tap into this market.
Belarus was well-represented too, showcasing over 100 dairy products, juices, chocolates, and more from their pavilion. Wang Qingfeng, president of the Belarus-Henan Chamber of Commerce, reported that their products arrived in just 14 days, thanks to effective logistics. Popular items, especially ice cream, led to 14 agency agreements, totaling $1 million in orders.
Additionally, a Belarusian Trade and Economic Representative Office was inaugurated during the expo, establishing a crucial connection for Chinese food companies looking to enter Central and Eastern European markets.
This convergence of flavors and cultures highlights not just the popularity of international foods in China, but also the strengthening ties between nations through food trade. The festival wasn’t just about products; it was a celebration of culinary traditions and shared tastes.
