New Charges in Arson Case: Second Man Arrested for Fires at Properties Connected to Prime Minister Keir Starmer

A second man has been charged with arson related to fires linked to Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Stanislav Carpiuc, a 26-year-old originally from Ukraine but now a Romanian national, appeared in a London court. He’s accused of conspiring to commit arson with the intent to endanger life.

In court, Carpiuc confirmed his identity through a Russian interpreter. Prosecutor Sarah Przybylska detailed the case, which involves three fires at locations associated with Starmer over the past two weeks.

The first incident occurred on May 8, when a car previously owned by Starmer was set ablaze in Kentish Town, North London. A few days later, on May 11, a fire broke out at a property where Starmer had lived in Islington. The last fire happened on May 12, in the doorway of Starmer’s home, which is now rented out. Fortunately, nobody was injured, but the doorway did sustain damage.

Carpiuc’s lawyer, Jay Nutkins, stated that his client denies being present at any of the fire scenes. He also noted that Carpiuc recently completed a business course and works in construction while living in London.

Carpiuc was arrested on May 17 at Luton Airport. He and another accused, 21-year-old Roman Lavrynovych, are believed to have conspired between April 17 and May 13. Both men remain in custody as their case continues. A third suspect, a 34-year-old man, has also been arrested but has not been publicly identified.

The investigation, led by counterterrorism police due to the high-profile nature of the case, is focusing on the intertwined lives of public figures and rented properties. This trend highlights how public figures can sometimes become targets, raising important questions about safety and security.

Given the mounting concerns over public safety and targeted actions against well-known individuals, such incidents can spark debates on how law enforcement and communities can better protect public figures.
