He also received the NHL’s General Manager of the Year Award after leading the team to the Stanley Cup Final in 2019. Beyond the NHL, Sweeney managed Team Canada at the 2025 Four Nations Face-Off, where they clinched the title with a thrilling overtime victory over Team USA.

In addition to his recent successes, Sweeney has been named Assistant General Manager for Team Canada at the upcoming 2026 Olympic Games in Milan, Italy, solidifying his reputation in international hockey.
