In 2024, Purdy had a standout season, completing 300 of 455 passing attempts for 3,864 yards and 20 touchdowns. His passer rating was a solid 96.1. Also notable was his ability to run the ball, where he set career highs with 66 rushing attempts and five rushing touchdowns—the most since Colin Kaepernick in 2012.
Since becoming the starting quarterback in Week 14 of the 2022 season, Purdy has won his first 10 starts, tying for the second-most wins by a quarterback at the start of a career. His early performance is compared to NFL greats, placing him on a remarkable list alongside Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomczak. In his first 25 starts, he threw for 6,508 yards and a remarkable 47 touchdowns, earning a passer rating of 112.6, the highest for any quarterback’s first 25 games since 1970.
During his first full season as a starter in 2023, Purdy was selected for his first Pro Bowl, setting franchise records with 4,280 passing yards and a passer rating of 113.0. This performance led the 49ers to an NFC Championship victory and a Super Bowl LVIII appearance. Notably, he achieved a completion percentage of 69.4%, ranking high in franchise history. He also set NFL records for multiple passing touchdowns and high passer ratings during a player’s early career.
Purdy hails from Gilbert, Arizona. He played four seasons at Iowa State University, where he participated in 48 games and achieved 12,170 passing yards with 81 touchdowns. Not just a thrower, he also contributed on the ground, showcasing his versatility as a quarterback.
