Mexican singer Julión Álvarez recently had to postpone his concert at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. He announced that his work visa was revoked, which meant he couldn’t enter the U.S. in time for the event.

In a video he shared on Instagram, Álvarez told his fans that he and his bandmates were informed about the visa cancellation on May 23, just a day before the concert. Almost 50,000 tickets had already been sold, and both Álvarez and his promoter, CMN, are working to reschedule the performance. Ticket holders will be able to use their current tickets for the new date or request a refund if they can’t attend.

This wasn’t the first time Álvarez has faced visa issues. Back in 2017, he was blacklisted by the U.S. Treasury due to alleged connections with drug kingpin Raul Flores Hernandez. Although he denied any ties to Hernandez, this incident left a mark on his career. He was removed from the blacklist in May 2022, which allowed him to perform in the U.S. again.

According to a recent survey by Statista, the regional Mexican music genre has surged in popularity, especially among younger audiences. This trend shows how impactful artists like Álvarez are in today’s music scene. Fans have expressed their disappointment on social media, sharing their excitement for the concert and their frustration over the visa issues.

Visa regulations often lead to uncertainty for international artists. A spokesperson for the State Department stated that visa records are confidential, which limits available information on individual cases.

Álvarez’s upcoming shows are part of his "4218 Tour USA 2025," following a successful run in California. With the demand for his music on the rise, it’s clear that fans are eagerly waiting for the rescheduled dates.
