WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – With rising inflation and a growing cost of living, many families are struggling to put food on the table. To address this issue, CBS12 News is joining forces with local food banks this summer for our ‘Feed the Need’ campaign.
This initiative kicks off at the Palm Beach County Food Bank, which currently provides over 3,000 meals daily—a number that continues to climb. The food bank is also rolling out a Summer Feeding program. This program will deliver meals to community centers and camps, ensuring children who miss school lunches still receive nutritious meals. Jamie Kendall, the CEO of the food bank, emphasizes the importance of this service: “During the summer months, children can enjoy a free breakfast, lunch, and snack.”
Additionally, the Food Bank supports local seniors through its Produce Program. Meals are delivered to senior centers, giving elderly residents access to fresh food options.
One dollar can have a big impact. With the Palm Beach County Food Bank, just a single dollar can provide meals for five families.
As food insecurity continues to rise, organizations like the Palm Beach County Food Bank play a crucial role in the community. Recent data from Feeding America shows that food insecurity rates have surged in many areas, affecting millions. It’s a reminder that while our local efforts are vital, the broader issue needs our attention too.
Every contribution counts. To support local families, consider making a donation to help keep this food drive going. Together, we can make a difference.
