On May 28, the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) launched an inspiring youth initiative called ‘Yuva Shakti, Bharat Ki Shakti – One Youth, One Nation, One Resolve.’ Thousands of students from across India came together in a united pledge to their nation. The event took place simultaneously at five universities representing different regions: Jamia Hamdard in New Delhi for Central India, University of Kashmir in Srinagar for the North, M. S. Ramaiah University in Bengaluru for the South, Himalayan University in Itanagar from the East, and Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University in Ahmedabad for the West.

This initiative emerged from a national sentiment following the tragic terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which triggered a robust military response through Operation Sindoor. The youth’s pledge emphasized unity, civic duty, and a shared vision for a self-reliant India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision echoes throughout this event. Concepts like Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat inspire the youth to take action today. It’s not just about being the leaders of tomorrow but also actively participating in nation-building now.

Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of AIU, along with other officials, attended the event in Delhi. Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, President of AIU, remarked on the significance of this gathering, stating, “Our universities are not just places of learning, but also centers of national resolve. The youth are shaping Bharat today.”

In a related decision, AIU announced the cancellation of all academic agreements with Turkey and Azerbaijan due to their actions against India’s sovereignty, reinforcing that mutual respect is vital in academic partnerships.

Youth movements like this show that students are more than just the leaders of tomorrow; they are catalysts for change today. Their unified pledge reflects a deep commitment to India’s values and future.

Recent surveys highlight that over 70% of Indian youth feel a strong sense of national duty. This statistic underscores the potential impact of initiatives like Yuva Shakti, showcasing a generation that isn’t just waiting for change; they are eager to create it.

As the voices of these thousands of students joined together in a powerful pledge, it became clear — this generation embodies the spirit of Yuva Shakti and Bharat Ki Shakti.
