After last week’s launch at I/O 2025, Google is now rolling out the Veo 3 feature in the Gemini app and Flow, making it more accessible. Initially, only Google AI Ultra subscribers could use Veo 3, but now those with Google AI Pro ($19.99 per month) can generate up to 10 short videos. These videos can include sound elements like background noise and dialogue, but after using the 10, you return to Veo 2.
The new feature is part of a broader initiative to enhance user creativity. You simply select “Video” in the updated prompt bar on the Gemini app to start creating. When you access Veo 3, you can bring your ideas to life through brief, 8-second videos where you’re the director.
In addition to this, Google is adding visible watermarks to all videos generated. However, Flow users who subscribe to Google AI Ultra will not see watermarks. Importantly, all Google-generated content includes an invisible SynthID watermark. At the recent I/O event, Google unveiled a SynthID Detector tool that allows users to check if their content has been watermarked. This tool is currently in testing but will roll out more widely soon.
As part of its effort to increase global access, Google AI Ultra is now available in 73 countries, including the UK, with a subscription cost of $249.99 per month. With the rise of AI-generated content, experts argue that tools like these could democratize content creation, enabling more people to tell their stories without needing advanced skills in filmmaking.
Interestingly, user reactions on social media reflect both excitement and skepticism. Many users appreciate the creative possibilities while expressing concerns about copyright and originality. As this technology evolves, it will be crucial to balance innovation with ethical considerations.
