The iconic show “Inside the NBA” has officially wrapped up its run on TNT. The final episode aired following Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals, featuring the Knicks and Pacers.

Originally starting in 1989, the show will move to ESPN next season as Warner Bros. Discovery has lost the broadcast rights for NBA games. While the network may change, Turner will continue to produce the show under a new licensing deal with ESPN.

After the last broadcast, Shaquille O’Neal shared some heartfelt thoughts about the transition. He expressed excitement for the future, saying there’s a saying: “When something passes away, something is reborn.” O’Neal emphasized that while they’d be leaving TNT, the show isn’t gone. “We’re still here, bringing the same energy to a new platform,” he added.

O’Neal thanked his co-hosts, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, and Charles Barkley, saying they would continue to entertain fans. “Even with a new network, we’re still the same team. The name may change, but the spirit remains,” he said, which received applause from the audience.

Barkley reflected on his 25-year journey with TNT, recalling how he’s seen many of his colleagues’ families grow through the years. “I’m blessed to have had this opportunity,” he shared. Johnson, visibly emotional during the sign-off, said, “Thank you for watching us, this is the NBA on TNT,” before ending the show with a mic drop.

Despite the nostalgia, the crew reassured fans that the best is yet to come. Johnson mentioned in a recent interview that the show would maintain its familiar touch. “It’ll feel different, but the core team and production crew remains,” he said.

As they transition to ESPN, the crew is optimistic about new opportunities and growth. Barkley, known for his candid opinions, has already voiced his thoughts on the current generation of NBA superstars, which shows he will continue to be a significant voice in basketball discussions.
