Join Us: Give Hope This Summer at Giving Hands Food Pantry’s Fundraiser to Fight Food Insecurity!

Did you know that around 13% of people in the U.S. face hunger? The Giving Hands Food Pantry is hosting its annual Food for Thought Fundraiser to help tackle this issue in our community. This event will take place on Saturday, June 7, at Antiques and Stuff.

Food insecurity means not knowing where your next meal will come from. Sadly, this affects 1 in 8 people around us—friends, family, and neighbors. The Giving Hands Food Pantry works hard to provide for about 250 families each week. The demand often increases during summer, when many children miss out on school lunches.

During the summer months, kids who depend on school meals for nourishment are at greater risk of food insecurity. For families already struggling, the added responsibility of feeding children at home can be overwhelming.

Come join us on June 7 to help fight hunger. The fundraiser will feature book sales from 10 AM to 2 PM and burger sales from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Every dollar raised goes directly toward buying food for the pantry, with each dollar purchasing about 13 pounds of food—enough to provide for multiple meals.

You can also contribute by donating books in various genres, from children’s literature to cookbooks. Donations are accepted until June 5 at Antiques and Stuff.

Join us on June 7 not just for a good read, but to make a real difference. If you have questions about the event, you can reach out to Hosanna Fletcher at 770-786-7305 ext. 124 or at community@covingtonfirst.org.
