Hint for the Spangram: Think of a word that captures a category of legendary creatures often found in spooky stories.

Hint for the Theme Words: These are specific creatures that you’re more likely to hear about while sitting around a campfire rather than in a science lesson.

Warning: Answers are coming up!

The spangram for today’s puzzle is CRYPTIDS.

The theme words are: MOTHMAN, JACKALOPE, YETI, KRAKEN, BIGFOOT, CRAWLER.

Here’s a look at the completed puzzle board:

To solve today’s Strands, I found MOTHMAN in the upper left corner. It’s clear we’re focusing on specific monsters. BIGFOOT is in the center, while CRAWLER is right next to it. KRAKEN can be seen in the upper right. Finally, I spotted the spangram CRYPTIDS, which refers to mythical creatures.

JACKALOPE is located just below MOTHMAN, and YETI wraps up the list. It’s fun to see all these legendary creatures together!

How to Play Strands: You can find the Strands game on the New York Times website or in their Games app. The puzzle starts with a board filled with letters and a hint about the theme. Your goal is to find the words that fit the theme.

The key word to find is known as the “spangram.” This word sums up the puzzle’s theme and usually makes it easier to find the other words. Words can be arranged in any direction, and you can only use each letter once.

Once you identify a word, it will be highlighted. If you’re stuck, you can submit non-theme words for hints.

Strands is user-friendly. You can’t lose; you either guess correctly, earn hints, or see which words aren’t valid. You win when you find all the words, including the spangram. Then, you’ll see a result card showing your performance.

Today’s puzzle provides a fun and engaging way to explore mythical creatures. If you’d like more information, you can check out the official New York Times Games page for the latest updates and puzzles.
