Food Pantry Events in Upper Michigan
Feeding America West Michigan is busy this Thursday, serving communities through its mobile food pantry. They will distribute food in Ishpeming, Norway, and Gwinn.
Here are the details for the locations and times:
-
North Iron Church, Ishpeming
Address: 910 Palms Avenue
Time: 9 a.m. ET -
Norway Community Food Pantry
Address: 130 O’Dill Drive
Time: 2 p.m. CT - Grace Lutheran Church, Gwinn
Address: 558 W. M-35
Time: 4 p.m. ET
To receive food assistance, attendees may be asked for their name, address, and household size. Usually, a maximum of six people can be in one vehicle. Please remain in your car, as these are drive-thru events.
The need for food assistance is significant. Recent statistics show that food insecurity affects over 10% of households in Michigan, with even higher rates in rural areas. Local food pantries play a crucial role in alleviating this challenge.
If you’re looking to volunteer, there are still opportunities available at North Iron Church through Yoopers United. You can find more information and sign up here.
