Popeyes has just rolled out three new chicken wraps for a limited time, and as a fast-food lover, I decided to give them a taste.
This launch comes right before McDonald’s announced the return of their popular Snack Wraps, set to hit menus later this month. It’s an exciting time for wrap lovers!
In addition to the wraps, Popeyes introduced a new Blueberry Lemonade, available in both chilled and frozen forms. I had to try that too.
The Wraps
Each wrap features a tender piece of chicken, lettuce, shredded cheese, and pickles. There are three spreads to choose from: Classic, Spicy, and Honey Mustard. Each wrap costs $3.99, but there’s a bundle deal: two wraps and a premium lemonade for $9.99.
At select locations, you can also opt for a Blackened Chicken wrap, which brings a Cajun twist. Unfortunately, my local Popeyes didn’t offer this option, so I had to stick with the regular chicken.
Honey Mustard Wrap
I started with the Honey Mustard wrap. It was good, but the chicken felt overshadowed by the other ingredients. With one tender per wrap, I occasionally bit into a mouthful without chicken. If you’re a honey mustard fan, you might still enjoy it, but I think other sauces would better complement the flavors.
Spicy Wrap
Next was the Spicy wrap. While it promised some heat, it was milder than I expected. The sauce tasted more like a spicy mayo than anything fiery. I think it would have been better with Blackened Chicken, which could really elevate the flavor.
Classic Wrap
Finally, I tried the Classic wrap, which became my favorite. The creamy mayo paired perfectly with the chicken, and when I encountered a pickle, it was a delightful bite. However, I’d prefer it without the shredded cheese, which sometimes overwhelmed the dish.
Blueberry Lemonade
I also sampled the Blueberry Lemonade. I tried the frozen version because it was hot outside. At first, it was refreshing, but it quickly became overly sweet as it melted. I compared it to their Strawberry Lemonade, which was a much better, balanced option. If you’re thinking about trying a new drink, I’d recommend sticking with the Strawberry Lemonade.
Final Thoughts
Are these new menu items worth your money? Pricing for fast food continues to rise, with wraps at $3.99 becoming the norm as restaurants adjust to inflation. If you’re looking for a quick bite, I’d definitely recommend the Classic wrap. For the best deal, the bundle with two wraps and a lemonade is ideal.
For a twist, consider asking for the wraps without a spread and using Popeyes’ delicious sauces like Blackened Ranch or Bayou Buffalo. That could take the wraps to the next level.
Looking Ahead
As the fast food landscape evolves, it’s interesting to see how companies like Popeyes and McDonald’s keep innovating to attract customers. More than just a meal, today’s fast food reflects changing tastes and trends.
