Join the Fun: Hundreds Celebrate at the 9th Annual Penticton Beer Run!

Around 350 participants dressed in colorful costumes took to the historic KVR Trail on June 7 for the much-loved Penticton Beer Run. This year, the event celebrated its ninth installment, featuring tastings from various local breweries along the scenic route. Proceeds from the run benefit local children’s camp programs, as highlighted by Lyndie Hill, owner of Hoodoo Adventures, which organized the event.

Hill shared, “People look forward to it every year. It’s a must-do.” While the run usually happens during Penticton Beer Week in October, it was shifted to June this year. This change was due to the city preparing for the 2025 Adventure Racing World Championship. Hill revealed that the beer run will return to its October slot in 2026, coinciding with its tenth anniversary.

The event kicked off bright and early at Abandoned Rail Brewing, with teams hitting the trail as early as 9 a.m. One of the largest teams had 15 members. Hill expressed the joy of supporting local kids’ programs through the event, saying, “It’s a fun way to give back.”

After the run, everyone gathered for an after-party at the Penticton Yacht Club and Marina. The celebration featured a DJ, outdoor games, and plenty of food and drinks. Hill encouraged everyone, from kids to adults, to join the festivities. “It’s open to everybody. You didn’t have to participate in the run to celebrate with us,” she noted.

Events like these not only promote local breweries but also create community engagement. According to a recent study by the Brewers Association, craft beer tourism has been on the rise, highlighting that such local events attract visitors and foster community spirit. In fact, nearly 75% of craft brewery visitors say they travel specifically to experience local beer events, making the Penticton Beer Run a great way to support both tourism and local initiatives.

The Penticton Beer Run, with its blend of fun, community spirit, and charitable contributions, continues to grow. As it approaches its tenth year, the excitement around the event is sure to make it memorable.
