Join Our Team: Seeking Passionate Healthcare Board Members to Make a Difference!

Lincoln, NE – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is looking for new members to join 25 healthcare boards across the state. These boards play a crucial role in shaping healthcare for both providers and patients.

Each board is responsible for licensing healthcare providers and reviewing regulations. Members typically serve for five years, with some partial terms also available. Board meetings vary from monthly to quarterly or even annually.

Here are some boards seeking applicants:

• Advanced Practice Registered Nursing – Public Member
• Board of Alcohol and Drug Counseling – Alcohol or Drug Counselor, Public Member
• Board of Athletic Training – Athletic Trainer
• Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology – Audiologist, Speech Language Pathologist
• Board of Chiropractic – Chiropractor
• Board of Cosmetology – Various roles including Electrologist and Nail Technician
• Board of Dentistry – Dental School Faculty, Dentist
• Board of Funeral Directing – Funeral Director, Public Member
• Board of Massage Therapy – Massage Therapist
• Board of Nursing – Various nursing roles
• Board of Optometry – Optometrist
• Board of Pharmacy – Pharmacist
• Board of Psychology – Psychologist
• Board of Veterinary Medicine – Veterinarian, Public Member

To become a public member, applicants must be at least 19 years old, a Nebraska resident for over a year, and not hold an active credential in a regulated profession. They should also not be related to anyone currently regulated by the board.

Applications are due by August 1, 2025, and interviews will be held in Lincoln on September 14, 2025. Members receive per diem and travel expense reimbursements when attending meetings.
