Get Ready: Ram Set to Launch Trucks in 2026, with Exciting Future Plans for Dodge in NASCAR Cup Series!

BROOKLYN, Mich. — Exciting news in the world of racing: Stellantis, the parent company of Dodge, will bring the Ram brand back to NASCAR in 2026. Ram will compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, with plans to possibly enter Cup racing later on.

The focus right now is on the truck series, which is simpler to join than the Cup series. Ram CEO Tim Kinuskis hopes to have four to six trucks ready for the opening race at Daytona. He hasn’t shared who will drive the trucks or which teams will be involved yet.

Kinuskis expressed that the goal isn’t just to race trucks. Ideally, Ram wants to transition to Cup racing as well. “Our intention is not to do a one-hit wonder,” he said. While there’s speculation about the brand potentially returning with Dodge cars, Kinuskis cautioned, “Don’t put that headline. But when we get to that point, it wouldn’t be just Ram.”

Some industry experts believe that GMS, a team known for its experience in NASCAR, might help build or field the trucks for Ram. Kinuskis also aims to enhance fan engagement, potentially leveraging popular figures like YouTube star Cleetus McFarland.

NASCAR has not seen a new manufacturer since Toyota joined in 2004 and 2007. Dodge had a significant presence in the Cup series until it exited in 2012 after Brad Keselowski won a championship. Kinuskis believes it’s essential for Ram to return, as about half of NASCAR fans own trucks.

John Probst, NASCAR’s Chief Racing Development Officer, mentioned that returning to Cup racing would require engine development and body design—at least an 18-month process. However, the foundational elements of Dodge’s previous engine still remain relevant.

Current NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski sees the truck series as a smart entry point for new manufacturers. It allows them to build their presence without needing to dive straight into the competitive Cup series.

In summary, Ram’s return to NASCAR marks an exciting new chapter for the brand and fans alike. The truck series offers an ideal launching pad as they aim for a brighter future in the sport.
