The city of Broken Arrow is excited for its annual Block Party on June 27-28, from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at New Orleans Square. This celebration is not just any event; it marks the community’s official Fourth of July festivities.
Mayor Debra Wimpee shared her thoughts on the importance of this gathering. “This Block Party brings us together in patriotism and pride. We welcome everyone to celebrate our nation and make cherished memories,” she said.
Music will fill the air during the two-night festival. On Friday, you can catch acts like John Elefante from Kansas and Kevin Chalfant from Journey. Saturday’s lineup features Paul Petersen and Ricky Peterson, known for touring with big names like Fleetwood Mac and Steve Miller Band.
Event promoter Brian Dean, who owns Waters Edge Winery, expressed his enthusiasm. “We’re bringing an exciting mix of music, food, and activities for everyone. This is a chance to experience Broken Arrow’s lively culture,” he noted.
Food lovers will be thrilled to explore over 20 food trucks, serving everything from Indian tacos to classic burgers and smoked meats. Plus, vendors will have crafts, face painting, and engaging activities for all ages.
The Kids Zone is an exciting highlight, featuring bounce houses, face painting, and a sprinkler area to keep the little ones cool. And don’t miss the dazzling fireworks show each night!
To ensure safety, the intersection at Elm and New Orleans will be closed from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. daily, with free parking available nearby. Just keep in mind that pets should stay home due to the heat and noise, as city rules prohibit dogs—except service animals—at large gatherings.
With community gatherings like this, local events foster a sense of belonging. According to a recent survey, 65% of Americans say community events strengthen relationships. Events like the Block Party not only celebrate culture but also bring together families and friends. It’s a reminder of the power of local connections.
