Jaipur: A tragic helicopter crash occurred near Gaurikund in Uttarakhand’s Kedarnath district, claiming the lives of all seven people on board. Among them was Rajveer Singh Chauhan, a former Indian Army lieutenant colonel. He had recently started flying for a private company after serving 14 years in the military.

Rajveer’s passing has left his family and community deeply saddened. His wife, Deepika, also serves in the Army and gave birth to twins just four months prior to this disaster. The news of the crash hit his father, Govind Singh Chauhan, hard, as he was the first to learn of the tragedy.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed his condolences, writing on social media that this loss is heartbreaking. He offered prayers for the deceased and their families. “May Baba Kedar grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the grieving families,” he shared.

The crash has sparked reactions from various leaders. Tika Ram Jully, opposition leader, called the incident painful and offered his sympathies. Jitendra Singh Alwar, a Congress leader, also paid tribute to the victims, highlighting the deep sorrow felt in the community.

This tragic event underscores the risks associated with air travel in challenging terrains like Kedarnath. According to a report by the Civil Aviation Ministry, helicopter crashes have been a persistent issue, especially in hilly areas where weather conditions can change rapidly. This highlights the importance of stringent safety checks and regulations for helicopter services.
