“It’s not personal; the rules are clear,” Horner stated, referencing similar past incidents where drivers received penalties for violating safety car rules.

The importance of following safety car protocols is emphasized in Formula 1. According to a 2022 FIA report, nearly 15% of all penalties issued in the series relate to safety car infractions. The FIA maintains strict regulations to ensure that all drivers maintain safe distances, especially during high-stress moments like this. Recent social media reactions show fans passionately divided over the fairness of Russell’s tactics versus the pressure he faced.
