Borderlands 4 is set to launch at a price of $70, as confirmed by 2K Games. Preorders are now open, and the game will officially release on September 12, 2025.
Recently, Randy Pitchford, the head of Gearbox, stirred up a lot of conversations with his tweets. When a fan worried about possibly paying $80 for the game, Pitchford replied, “if you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it happen.” This comment drew criticism, leading Pitchford to address the backlash in follow-up tweets.
The game will come in three different editions:
Standard Edition: Priced at £59.99, it includes the base game for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).
Deluxe Edition: For £89.99, this edition will include several bonuses:
- The Bounty Pack Bundle with four post-launch DLC packs, new missions, and bosses.
- Four Vault Cards featuring unique challenges and rewards.
- New gear, weapons, and vehicles, along with cosmetic items.
- Super Deluxe Edition: At £119.99, it combines all the bonuses from the Deluxe Edition and adds:
- The Vault Hunter Pack, which offers two new story packs, new regions, and additional gear.
- The Ornate Order Pack, including various skins and customization options for characters.
Preordering any edition will grant players the Gilded Glory Pack, which features exclusive skins for characters and weapons.
In the context of gaming trends, the conversation around pricing is notable. Many gamers are expressing their opinions on social media, with discussions often focusing on whether the higher costs truly reflect value. A recent survey found that 57% of gamers are willing to pay more for quality content but also want transparency in pricing.
As the gaming industry evolves, the debate over value versus price is likely to continue. In previous years, similar discussions arose around the releases of games like Call of Duty and FIFA, where rising prices often triggered mixed reactions from fans.
