Mike Lindell Defamed by Jury Verdict: MyPillow CEO’s Controversial Comments Target Denver’s Dominion Voting Systems Executive

A federal jury has ordered businessman Mike Lindell to pay approximately $2.3 million in damages to Eric Coomer, a former employee of Dominion Voting Systems. This decision comes after Coomer claimed he was defamed by Lindell, known for promoting false narratives about the 2020 election.

Coomer’s attorney, Charles Caine, expressed relief at the verdict but noted that the situation has taken a toll on Coomer’s life. He stated, “This shows that individuals can find some justice in the legal system. We hope it discourages targeted attacks on those involved in elections.”

While the jury did award damages, it was less than the $62.7 million Coomer sought. They rejected some claims that Lindell’s company, My Pillow, was accountable for remarks made by others on platforms he controls. Lindell, however, hailed the outcome as a victory for companies under attack, claiming, “You cannot attack USA companies and expect it to work.”

Lindell plans to appeal. He argues that he’s currently facing financial difficulties and asserts that he continues to believe in the conspiracy theories he promoted about the election. After the election in November 2020, a podcaster named Joe Oltmann alleged that Coomer was involved in an effort to help Joe Biden win. This claim spread quickly, leading to threats and harassment directed at Coomer.

The impact of such conspiracy theories highlighted the real-world consequences of misinformation. Coomer stated he was forced to leave his career due to the distress caused by these false allegations.

Experts warn about the dangers of unchecked misinformation.
