Unlocking Supply Chain Innovations: Join Swapnil Shah from Freight Tiger in Episode 6 of Crafting Bharat – www.lokmattimes.com

India is on the cusp of becoming a major global player. As the fifth-largest economy today, it is projected to be the third-largest by 2027, and by 2047, it could achieve a staggering $30 trillion economy status. This transformation is vital, as India aims to emerge as a developed nation.

One exciting part of this journey is the role of startups, especially in logistics. A new series, “Crafting Bharat – Season 2,” hosted by Gautam Srinivasan, showcases how innovative companies are leveraging cloud technology to boost operations and accelerate growth. This initiative, powered by AWS Startups and produced in collaboration with VCCircle and HT Smartcast, provides insights into India’s entrepreneurial spirit.

In a recent episode, Swapnil Shah, Founder and CEO of Freight Tiger, highlighted their efforts in modernizing freight management. Freight Tiger handles around 5% of India’s road freight, with ambitions to increase that to 20% in just a few years.

Shah explained that their approach has always been customer-focused. They first identified a simple need: businesses wanted to know where their shipments were and when they would arrive. Initially, Freight Tiger concentrated on tracking shipments. Despite being underestimated as just a visibility solution, they were pioneers in offering real-time updates, even when GPS was scarce.

An innovative feature they introduced is the electronic Proof of Delivery (ePOD), which has significantly reduced delivery disputes and added transparency. Freight Tiger connects shippers, logistics providers, and drivers, transforming the logistics landscape from a chaotic, manual process to a more efficient, tech-driven system.

The logistics industry faces challenges like tight delivery timelines and empty vehicle capacity, which can waste resources. In fact, studies show that 30-40% of vehicle capacity often goes unused. As the sector moves toward sustainable practices, Freight Tiger aims to help clients find logistics partners who prioritize cleaner, more efficient fleets.

Freight Tiger’s partnership with AWS has also been crucial. This collaboration allows them to scale quickly and keep costs down. As Shah noted, “For any startup, the flexibility and scalability of AWS are game-changers.” This synergy helps maintain smooth operations while focusing on continuous innovation.

As India works toward being a developed nation, the logistics sector plays a critical role. A well-functioning logistics network will not only propel economic growth but will also enhance India’s presence on the global stage. Keep an eye on “Crafting Bharat – Season 2” for more stories from dynamic entrepreneurs shaping the future.
