Srinagar: A Safe Return for Students Amid Rising Tensions

Around 110 Indian students from Urmia Medical University in Iran are finally on their way home. This includes 90 students from the Kashmir Valley. The situation in the region has become increasingly tense due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association announced that they managed to connect with these students who had crossed into Armenia. They are currently staying in hotels in Yerevan, the capital.

The Indian government is facilitating their return. All flight tickets are being provided for free. The students will travel back to India via Doha. A statement from the association confirmed that arrangements from Delhi to Srinagar are also being made to ensure their safe journey.

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Iran has been proactive. They reported that students in Tehran have been moved to safer locations, with the embassy helping to coordinate transport. Other Indian residents who have their own means of transport are encouraged to leave Tehran for safety.

The students’ itinerary is clear. They will depart from Yerevan Airport at 08:45 AM on IndiGo flight 6E 9483, arriving in Doha at 2:05 PM. From there, they will catch a flight to Delhi by 3:05 PM, expected to land at 10:15 PM.

This situation highlights the importance of governmental support during crises. With escalating violence in conflict zones, timely evacuation plans and clear communication become crucial for the safety of citizens abroad.
