India’s MSME Sector: A Vital Force for Growth
India’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector is more than just a part of the economy. It powers communities, creates jobs, and drives innovation. On June 16, 2025, Z Bharat held the ‘Bharat Ki Udaan’ MSME Conclave at Bharat Mandapam, celebrating this influential sector.
The conclave recognized India’s unsung heroes—small business owners and entrepreneurs—by bringing together key figures like policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators. Union Ministers, including Nitin Gadkari and Jitan Ram Manjhi, showcased the government’s commitment to supporting this vital sector.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari laid out an ambitious plan for improving India’s infrastructure. He talked about reviving stalled projects worth ₹3.85 lakh crore and launching new expressways, making roads safer and more efficient. This focus on infrastructure is crucial as it directly impacts business operations and growth.
Jitan Ram Manjhi emphasized the role of MSMEs in creating over 28 crore jobs. This sector is essential for India’s economic resilience. Harsh Malhotra shared that initiatives like the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) have benefited around 140 crore people, showcasing the government’s effort to streamline processes for businesses and citizens.
Another highlight was Bihar’s transformation, as discussed by Syed Shahnawaz Hussain. He pointed to successful projects like ethanol production and mega food parks that are changing the state’s economic landscape.
Panel discussions during the conclave explored various sectors poised for growth, from sustainable construction to agri-tech. Entrepreneurs shared real-life stories of how they are integrating innovative technologies and practices, signaling a shift towards more eco-friendly operations.
Interestingly, according to a recent report, India’s manufacturing sector contributes 17% to the national GDP. Experts urge increased investment in skills development and local enterprises to realize the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
Editorial leaders from Z Bharat, including CEO Karan Abhishek Singh, stressed the importance of recognizing the grassroots efforts that drive India’s economy. They reiterated their commitment to support MSMEs through informative platforms, encouraging innovation and efficiency.
As India forges ahead to potentially become the third-largest economy globally, the journey will not be led solely by large corporations. The grassroots entrepreneurs and small businesses are crucial players in this transformation.
The ‘Bharat Ki Udaan’ conclave was made possible thanks to partnerships with organizations that share Z Bharat’s vision. This event exemplified how collective efforts can lead to meaningful change in the MSME landscape, promoting sustainable and inclusive growth across the nation.
