Discover Wellness and Wine at Bari Beauty and Health Plus in Euclid: Your Ultimate Destination for Self-Care

Health and wellness can take many forms. It includes physical fitness, a balanced diet, and mental well-being. It’s all about knowing when to relax and recharge. For Barbra Liddell and her daughter Shakeela, who run Bari Beauty & Health Plus, wellness can even mean enjoying a glass of wine at the end of a long day.

Bari Beauty & Health Plus, located at 637 E. 185th St., Euclid, started in 2009. Initially, they sold holistic products like supplements and soaps. Unfortunately, a fire closed their doors for a while. But they reopened in October 2021 with a fresh perspective and new offerings.

The Liddell family didn’t let setbacks stop them. After the fire, they decided to try something new: making fruit wines right in the store. Barbra’s son took charge of wine-making, following in the family tradition that began with Barbra’s parents in Greenwood, Mississippi. Barbra shared, “It took time to learn the business. But I kept pushing and experimenting.”

Barbra comes from a large family with 11 siblings. She credits her parents for teaching her about wine-making. “My father passed it to my mom,” she explained. “She even brought it into our store. At 105, she was ready to pass the torch, so I got the necessary licenses to produce the wine here.”

Most wines are made from fruits like peaches and strawberries, along with classic varieties like Zinfandel and Concord. The goal? Keep it natural, with minimal additives. Liddell emphasized, “We use fruits and vegetables to promote health.” This approach is increasingly relevant, especially with recent studies showing that a plant-based diet can reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

Post-fire, they added a smoothie bar. “We’re more health-conscious now,” Liddell noted. “We want to nourish our bodies, not just fill up on sugary drinks.” They use actual fruits and vegetables, avoiding preservatives and processed ingredients. Shakeela added, “We focus on smoothies with simple, pronounceable ingredients. It’s about holistic wellness.”

This mindset resonates with a growing trend, as many consumers prefer natural and organic products. According to a recent survey by the Organic Trade Association, 82% of American families purchased organic products in 2021, showing a clear shift toward healthier choices.

Barbra and Shakeela remain committed to their community. They see their store as a place to serve and educate. Barbra expressed her desire to leave a legacy for her grandchildren, emphasizing the importance of passing down knowledge. “I want them involved in this world. It’s about future generations,” she said.

The blend of family values, health consciousness, and community focus makes Bari Beauty & Health Plus a unique spot in Euclid. As they continue to innovate while honoring their family traditions, they stand as a testament to resilience and commitment in the wellness industry.
