ABUJA: Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, the Mandate Secretary of the FCTA Health Services and Environment Secretariat, is making waves in public service. In just one month, she has received three significant national awards that highlight her influence in healthcare, environmental protection, and climate change.
At the Annual Conference of the Pest Control Association of Nigeria in Lagos, Dr. Fasawe was recognized as the “Amazon of Environmental Health.” This award honors her innovative work in pest control and sustainable practices. Shortly afterward, she was celebrated as a “Silent Hero in Healthcare Delivery” at the 7th Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards in Abuja, showcasing her impactful yet understated reforms in the health sector.
Her alma mater, Obafemi Awolowo University, also acknowledged her efforts, presenting her with an “Award of Excellence in Climate Action” during its 2025 International Conference on climate sustainability. This reflects a growing recognition of professionals who advocate for positive change in Nigeria.
Dr. Fasawe attributes her success to the supportive leadership of FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, and his efforts aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. “These awards are a testament to the collaborative environment fostered by the FCTA,” she stated.
Her accomplishments have garnered applause from several dignitaries, including the Minister of Environment, Malami Balarabe Abba Lawal, and other prominent leaders, who see her as a role model in public service.
This recognition is part of a broader trend in Nigeria, where dedicated public servants are being celebrated for their contributions to vital sectors. According to a recent survey by the National Bureau of Statistics, 78% of Nigerians believe that effective leadership in healthcare and environmental policy directly impacts quality of life. Dr. Fasawe’s awards reflect this shifting perception and the vital role individuals play in achieving sustainable change.
As more voices like hers emerge, the hope is that these recognitions inspire future leaders and underline the importance of effective public service in Nigeria’s journey toward progress.
