Exciting News: Fort Valley State University Appoints Brandon Britt as New Head Coach for Men’s Basketball!

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — Fort Valley State University has named Brandon Britt as the new head coach for the men’s basketball team, signaling a fresh direction for Wildcat basketball.

Britt comes with a strong background in revamping basketball programs. He recently worked at Edward Waters University, where he was the assistant coach and co-recruiting coordinator. During his time there, he helped the team reach important milestones, including their first NCAA Division II winning season and a team GPA of 3.4. His work in recruiting and training improved player skills significantly.

“Coach Britt’s track record in building winning programs and his commitment to players’ academic and personal growth aligns perfectly with our vision at Fort Valley State,” said Daphnie Johnson, the Director of Athletics. “We look forward to the energy and leadership he will bring to Wildcat Nation.”

Before EWU, Britt turned around the boys’ basketball program at Western Kentucky High School from 2018 to 2023. He transformed a struggling 4-22 team into a competitive force with an 83-56 record over five seasons. Under his leadership, the team achieved a historic 23-win season in 2022 and made its first regional tournament appearance in a decade.

Notably, Britt has also coached a 14U AAU team, guiding them to a remarkable 58-4 record in 2019, earning the top ranking in Kentucky. His coaching career began at Indiana University Southeast, where he helped the team win a conference championship and reach the NAIA national tournament, producing four NAIA All-Americans in the process.

Britt holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Indiana University Southeast and a master’s degree in teaching from the University of the Cumberlands. His focus on both sports development and academics reflects a growing trend in college athletics, emphasizing athletes’ overall well-being and success beyond the court.

As Fort Valley State moves forward under Britt’s guidance, fans and players alike are eager to see how his leadership will shape the team’s future.
