Discover Authentic Latin Flavors: Bahia Restaurant & Bar Now Open in Brightwaters!

Brightwaters has a new gem: Bahia Restaurant & Bar Latin Food. It’s a vibrant spot that blends Colombian and Ecuadorian cuisines. The restaurant took over the space once occupied by Lulu’s and JTI’s American Kitchen and Bar.

Owner Hernan Hernandez, a Colombian native, has deep ties to Ecuadorian food through his Bay Shore deli, Ecua Deli, where he’s been serving delighted customers for 11 years. “We have many guests on weekends, and we wanted to offer more to our community,” Hernandez shared in Spanish.

To provide an authentic experience, Hernandez brought on two talented chefs: Edgar Hernandez, who has over 15 years of experience in Colombian cuisine, and Emma Criollo, who specializes in Ecuadorian dishes. “Our menu features the essential dishes from both cultures,” he noted.

Some highlights include the **picada bahia** ($36.40), a hearty platter with beef, chicken, pork, sausage, fries, and tostones (twice-fried green plantains). For a taste of Ecuador, try the **chaulafan** ($20.80), a flavorful chicken fried rice mixed with various meats and spices. Don’t forget to grab a pastry like the **pan de bono**, a cheesy delight priced at just $2.10.

After three months of renovations, the restaurant shines with a fresh interior, including a stylish bar with marble countertops and lively lighting. With seating for 140, it’s a perfect spot for gatherings and celebrations.

Music enthusiasts will enjoy live performances by artists like Daniel Orozco and Janann Velasco, plus occasional karaoke nights. The name “Bahia,” meaning “bay,” was chosen for its deeper significance to Hernandez, symbolizing beauty, freedom, and tranquility.

As dining patterns change, many families are seeking diverse culinary experiences, and Bahia Restaurant fills that need. According to a recent survey by the National Restaurant Association, nearly 80% of diners now prefer eating cuisines from different cultures. Restaurants like Bahia are perfectly positioned to meet this growing appetite.

For those looking to enjoy a taste of Latin America, Bahia Restaurant & Bar is the place to be. It’s more than just a meal; it’s an experience steeped in rich flavors and community spirit.

Bahia Restaurant & Bar Latin Food, located at 91 Howells Rd, Brightwaters, is open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 10 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
