Dell recently introduced two new laptops, the Dell 14 Premium and Dell 16 Premium, marking a shift from its previous XPS branding. These models feature Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 2 Arrow Lake processors and a refreshed logo. While they boast some updated specs, they closely resemble the popular XPS 14 and XPS 16.
Kevin Terwilliger, Dell’s product management lead, explained that this name change simplifies the search for the right PC while maintaining high quality and performance.
The laptops are now available in the US and Canada, with starting prices set at $1,649.99 for the Dell 14 Premium and $2,699.99 for the Dell 16 Premium. Consumers have the option of two colors: a silver “Platinum” and a darker gray “Graphite,” designed to fit naturally in school or office settings.
The Dell 16 Premium upgrades to the newest Nvidia RTX laptop GPUs, launching with the RTX 5060. Other options like the RTX 5050, RTX 5070, and integrated Intel Arc graphics are expected soon, with the RTX 5070 version also featuring Thunderbolt 5.
Meanwhile, the Dell 14 Premium retains integrated Intel graphics but can now be configured with an RTX 4050 GPU. It also offers a bump in RAM capacity, now allowing for up to 64GB of LPDDR5 compared to the previous limit of 32GB. Plus, it now supports Wi-Fi 7, aligning it with trend-setting technology.
Recent surveys indicate a growing demand for high-performance, portable devices. According to a report from Statista, nearly 60% of consumers prioritize performance and battery life in new laptops. With these offerings, Dell seems to be responding to that demand, ensuring their new models feature the latest technology for both casual and professional users.
As technology evolves, these new Dell models highlight the shift towards performance-focused laptops. The integration of Wi-Fi 7 and advanced graphics capabilities suggests a future where high-speed connectivity and gaming performance will be more important than ever.
