Super Bowl Halftime Star Arrested for Bold Protest on Sudan and Free Gaza

A man named Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu raised a Sudanese flag with the words “Sudan and Free Gaza” during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show on February 9, and he has recently been arrested for it.

Louisiana State Police announced his arrest four months after the performance. He turned himself in and was booked at the Orleans Parish Justice Center. Nantambu is facing charges for resisting an officer and disturbing the peace.

According to police reports, during the halftime show, Nantambu, who was part of the performance, went off-script and waved the flag across the field. While he had access to the field, he did not have permission to display the flag, which he waved as Lamar performed “TV Off.” Viewers could clearly see him run across the field before security intervened, as shown in a video of the event.

Initially, the Caesars Superdome had stated Nantambu would not face any charges. However, the NFL later issued a lifetime ban against him from stadiums and events.

Sergeant Kate Stegall from the Louisiana State Police noted that they took the case seriously, given the secure environment of an NFL game. “We are pleased this individual is being held accountable,” she said.

In an unexpected twist, Nantambu is also involved in a serious situation with former NFL player Antonio Brown. Reports say that Nantambu was allegedly shot at by Brown following a fight after a celebrity boxing match in May. Eyewitnesses indicated that Brown fired a gun during the altercation, which sparked debates online.

On social media, Brown accused Nantambu of being a “fraud” and claimed they’ve had issues since 2022, including a jewelry theft incident. This escalation has raised questions about their ongoing conflicts.
