Revolutionizing Aviation: US Aviation Academy Teams Up with Korea Aerospace University for Groundbreaking FAA Aircraft Maintenance Technician Program

South Korea & United States – The US Aviation Academy (USAA), a leading pilot training organization in North America, is teaming up with Korea Aerospace University to launch the first FAA aircraft maintenance technician program outside the U.S. This exciting partnership aims to help students earn both a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) aircraft maintenance engineer license and a local maintenance engineer license.

This program is a landmark moment in aviation education. It brings together the strengths of both institutions to provide students with high-quality training. Korea Aerospace University has set up the necessary FAA training equipment and has introduced a Learjet aircraft for students to train with. On June 24th, the launch of the FAA U.S. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License Specialized Training Institute was celebrated with a ceremony at Korea Aerospace University. Key figures from both USAA and the university attended, highlighting the importance of the event.

USAA is the largest FAA-certified training institution in the U.S., operating 12 campuses with over 200 aircraft. They train about 1,700 pilots and maintenance personnel each year and have partnerships with major airlines like Delta Air Lines. This partnership with Korea Aerospace University marks their first step into the Asian market, following a mutual agreement from 2022.

The FAA maintenance engineer course will last one year. Students will spend six months in training at Korea Aerospace University and another six months at USAA in Dallas. After finishing the course, they’ll be eligible to take the FAA qualification and domestic license exams. Graduates could find internship and job opportunities in countries like the U.S., Japan, and Singapore.

Justin Sykes, CFO of USAA, expressed excitement about the collaboration, noting its significance for international aviation education.

This initiative reflects a growing global demand for skilled aviation professionals. According to the Boeing Pilot and Technician Outlook, the aviation industry will need 2.1 million new aviation personnel over the next two decades. This partnership offers students a unique pathway to meet that demand, equipping them with valuable skills and qualifications.
