Hyderabad: Neeraj Chopra, the gold medalist from the Tokyo Olympics, is back at the top of the world javelin rankings, as per the latest update from World Athletics. He reclaimed the number one spot after briefly losing it to Anderson Peters last year.

In the updated rankings, Neeraj boasts 1445 points, while Peters follows with 1431. German thrower Anderson Peters sits in third place with 1407 points, and Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem is fourth at 1370 points. As the defending champion, Neeraj is gearing up for the World Championships in September, aiming to defend his title.

Neeraj’s 2025 Highlights

Neeraj kicked off his season with success at an invitational event in Potchefstroom, where he secured gold with a throw of 84.52m. He then made headlines with a 90.23m throw at the Doha Diamond League, marking his first time breaching the 90m barrier, even though he finished second. He followed this by placing second again at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial with a throw of 84.14m.

In the Paris Diamond League, Neeraj triumphed over Weber, achieving a throw of 88.16m. He also shined at the Ostrava Golden Spike, winning gold on his debut with the same distance of 88.16m.
