Experience the Bharat Gaurav Tourism Train: Connecting Devotees to South India’s Major Temples via Saharsa for the First Time!

Patna: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is launching the Bharat Gaurav Tourism Train, making its debut in Saharsa. This train is designed for those looking to experience the spiritual richness of southern India. It will start its journey on August 14, bringing travelers to some of the country’s most revered temples.

For the first time, the Samastipur Railway Division will feature this route. The train will pass through Nirmali, Jhanjharpur, and Darbhanga before heading to Samastipur. From there, it will make its way through Muzaffarpur, Hajipur, and Patna, ultimately reaching destinations like Tirupati, Rameswaram, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Thiruvananthapuram, and Srisailam.

Over the course of 12 nights and 13 days, passengers will have the chance to visit several key pilgrimage sites. Notable stops include the Mallikarjun Jyotirlinga in Srisailam, the Balaji and Padmavati temples in Tirupati, Ramnath Swami Jyotirlinga in Rameswaram, the Meenakshi temple in Madurai, the Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, and the Vivekananda Memorial in Kanyakumari.

Rajesh Kumar, the IRCTC Regional Manager, announced that travelers can choose between AC and non-AC accommodations at various locations. The tour package will cost Rs 23,000 per person.

This initiative not only aims to boost tourism but also seeks to strengthen cultural connections among people. It aligns with government efforts to promote national unity through travel.

Experts believe that projects like this can significantly impact local economies. According to a recent report by the Ministry of Tourism, domestic tourism contributes nearly 85% of the total tourism revenue in India. These initiatives not only encourage travelers to explore their own country but also help preserve and promote cultural heritage.

The public reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly on social media. Many users express excitement about the chance to visit well-known temples and experience the rich spiritual culture of southern India. Overall, this train journey promises to be a unique blend of travel, culture, and spirituality.
