“Annual checkups with your doctor are vital,” Peters says. “These visits help catch potential health issues early.” Men should also prioritize specific screenings: skin checks with a dermatologist, colorectal screenings starting at age 45, and prostate cancer screenings beginning at 50.

Interestingly, recent studies show that men in the U.S. are expected to live around six years less than women. Factors contributing to this gap include differences in biology, lifestyle choices, and social expectations. A survey by the Men’s Health Network found that encouraging conversations about mental health can significantly improve outcomes for men.
