The Switch 2 has been available for nearly a month, and players are curious about which accessories work with it. While Nintendo has provided some compatibility info, our senior video producer, Zion Grassl, has taken it a step further by testing various accessories in a recent video.
He discovered that while some accessories are compatible, others don’t work at all or have limitations. Here’s a quick rundown:
Accessories (Mostly) Not Compatible:
- Official Nintendo Adjustable Charging Stand
- Original Switch Dock
- Genki Covert Dock (can charge but no output)
- MicroSD Card (only transfers photos and videos; Switch 2 uses MicroSD Express cards)
- Some Switch cases (like PDP Sheikah Slate case and HORI adventure packs, still fit)
- Nintendo Switch console grips (like Satisfye)
- Joy-Con grip holders and charging accessories (not compatible with Joy-Con 2)
Accessories That Work (With Some Limitations):
- Original Switch Joy-Con (can’t attach to the system)
- Original Switch Pro Controller and select Power-A Controllers (won’t wake the console)
- Ring Fit Adventure accessories (Joy-Con 2 seems to work)
- Nintendo Labo (though the system tablet is too big for Labo VR Goggles)
- Can charge with the original Switch AC adapter (not for the dock)
- USB Network Adapter (better to use the built-in ethernet port)
This is just a selection of tested items. If you’re curious about more accessories, you can find detailed information on Nintendo Life.
Interestingly, as the gaming community shares experiences, many are discussing their favorite accessories that work (or don’t) on platforms like Twitter and Reddit. It’s a great way to stay informed and find tips from fellow gamers. So, what accessories have you tested with the Switch 2? What’s your experience been like? Sharing your insights may help others navigate this new system.
